Week 9 - Dimensions 3 - Extending and Refining Learning

This is your opportunity to teach fellow Fellows about one of the Dimensions 3 strategies. You have been given an article about one of the 8 Dimensions 3 strategies. Please read the article and also take a look at the same Dimensions 3 strategy on the following website: http://www.aea267.k12.ia.us/cia/framework/thinking/
(When you go to this site, click on COMPLEX THINKING SKILLS AND REASONING. Scroll down near the bottom of Thinking Skills and find the Dimensions of Learning thinking skills you have been assigned). Then, do the following:
1. What steps (steps in knowing the process) would students need to know in order to use this strategy? List the steps.
2. How would you teach the students how to use this process? (for instance, today, I showed you the process of comparing 2 things by having you compare fun/enjoyment and also had you compare 2 different types of candies).
3. How could you apply this strategy to science or mathematics? (for instance, I might have students compare the structure of RNA and DNA in biology OR in math, I might have students compare finding the Least Common Multiple (LCM) by generating a table of multiples, and by writing out and using the prime factorization).

Week 8 - Stations

What are your "take aways" from the instructional strategies learned in the stations today. From what you learned, what would you like to develop for your unit? Respond to 2 Fellows.

Week 7 - "Hooks"

Explain what you would do for “H- Hook” activities for your unit. How would you tap in to the multiple intelligences and/or triarchic intelligences of your students. Give feedback in the form of PQP – Praise/Question/Polish (Polish means to "give suggestions") – to two colleagues.

Week 6: Reflection and Goal Setting

Now that you have reflected key points from the first 5 chapters of Stiggins, what goals will you have for yourself when it comes to assessment practices in your classroom? How will you use assessment to help your students achieve more?

Week 5: Critique an Assessment

Using the Keys to Quality, critique one of the selected response assessments listed under Week 5. Respond to one.

Week 4: Use of an Informal Formative Assessment

Use one of the informal formative assessments that we learned about in class (or adapt it) with a student you are working with. Report what you did, what feedback you gave to the student, and how it went. Did the informal formative assessment help you to see where the student needed work or help? Did the student improve because of the feedback you gave? Respond to 2 Fellows' posts.

Week 3 - Blog for Stiggins Chapter 2

Think of one insight, "ah-ha" or idea that seems significant from Chapter 2 (Stiggins) on the Seven Strategies of Assessment FOR Learning (pages 42-45). Respond to 2 classmates.
